Acupuncture is only one of the many modalities we use in Oriental Medicine. It involves the insertion of extremely fine, disposable needles into specific points in the body. There are many scientific theories about how stimulation of these points benefits the organs, tissues and fluids of the body.

As research from around the world has become more widely known, acupuncture has become increasingly accepted as an effective therapy for a broad range of both chronic and acute conditions including pain, fatigue, emotional unrest, nervous system disorders, musculoskeletal problems, sinus and respiratory conditions, gastrointestinal conditions, gynecological disorders as well as a long list of many other health concerns.

Does acupuncture hurt?

When the fine needle is inserted through the skin, there is a slight prickling sensation that is almost painless. We have developed techniques to make this as undetectable as possible. Usually the needle is inserted only a fraction of an inch through the skin. Once the needle is in place, another sensation arises, usually a tingling or numbness or perhaps a feeling of warmth or heaviness around the needle. This is the desired effect. It indicates that the body is responding and balancing itself effectively. Acupuncture treatments are usually deeply relaxing, rejuvenating and delightful experiences.

Cupping

Cupping is one of the many ancient techniques we use to help the body naturally return to a state of health. It effectively relieves many types of pain and stagnation.
